Volunteer Information
All volunteers who work directly with players must 1) register with AYSO National, 2) take the Safe Haven class, AND 3) All coaches, assistant coaches and team managers must be Live Scanned with Burbank.
1) You must log on to AYSO National and complete the volunteer registration form. This must be completed each year. If you registered last year, you will only need to update the information. Once you have completed the registration process, you must print out two copies of the registration form and sign both. The team manager or coach will collect these forms and pass them along to the Division Directors. 2) Safe Haven may be completed in several ways. Coaches may take the class during their training in August. Referees may complete the class as part of their referee training. A new online course is available. You may take the Safe Haven class on line. It takes less than an hour to complete. You will receive an email that will allow you to print out a certificate to give to the coach, Division Director, or Referee Administrator. 3)The City of Burbank requires our orgnanization to follow Park and Rec's policy of having all Coaches, assistant coaches and Team Parent/Manager volunteers complete a Live Scan. If you have already been Live Scanned with the city of Burbank for Park and Rec you only need to provide the date/year and team that you live scanned. .
REFEREES - Every team needs to provide at least 2 referees. Training is provided. Check the schedule for classes.

FIELD MONITORS: To ensure everyone has a positive experience at AYSO, EVERY team is required to provide one field monitor each week.Home team will monitor the hour BEFORE their game on the same field.Visitor team will monitor the hour AFTER their game on the same field.Sign-in at the Tent closest to your game day field.Wear the bright orange field monitor vest.Patrol the field area.The presence of your vest will inspire others to follow the Kids Zone policy.Field Monitors are to walk around the field.Observe that the rules are being observed by all coaches, players and spectators.
FIELD MONITORS should remind those who need to remember that:
It’s for the kids – make sure they are having fun
Let the coaches do the coaching
Referees are to be treated with respect, regardless of the calls!
Parents are not permitted to “run the sidelines” during match play.
Parents must stay between the penalty lines, one yard back from the sidelines.
Coaches must stay within 10 yards of the centerline or in the coaches box.
Parents cannot “camp” around the goal area – behind or to the side – regardless of the age division.
NO PETS ARE PERMITTED AT PRACTICE OR GAMES – you may be cited!
No smoking or alcohol is permitted at any game or practice facility
Kids are not allowed to assemble or take down goals
Coaches and parents who have first-of-the-day-games must arrive one (1) hour prior to game time for goal set up.
Each team is required to “police” their sidelines for trash and other debris after each match.
Field Monitors have been empowered to send parents, coaches, or other observers off the premises in the event circumstances dictate.
Volunteers Anyone having contact with the kids needs to have a volunteer form on file. Go online and fill out a Volunteer form. Print two copies, sign them and give them to the division board membr or coach administrator. Coaches, assistant coaches and referees must all complete the Safe Haven course. (Team Managers should also take this course). This course may be taken as part of your coach or referee training. We are now offering an additional way for you to complete this requirement. AYSO Region 36 in San Mateo, California developed on on-line Safe Haven course and has made this course available to all AYSO regions.
The on-line course takes less than an hour to complete. Once you have completed the course you will have the option of printing out a certificate verifying successful completion of the course. You will also receive an email verifying completion of the course. Coaches - please give your Division Coordinator or Coach Administrator a printed copy of the certification. Referees should give the printed copy directly to the Referee Administrator or may give a copy to the coach to turn in with other team paperwork. The Division Coordinator will then pass the paperwork along to the Referee Administrator.
